In this guide, AYL CPA will walk you through, step by step, how to make a Non-Resident Withholding Tax Payment on the CRA website.

🔹 Step 1
Go to the CRA website and under the “Taxes” section, select:

“Make a payment to the CRA”

🔹 Step 2
Click:

“Make a payment”

🔹 Step 3
Under “Ways to pay”, select:

“Debit card”

Then under “Learn how to pay”, select:

“Using My Payment”

(Online payment by debit card)

🔹 Step 4
Click:

“Pay now using My Payment”

🔹 Step 5
On the page:

“How to pay the amount you owe”

Select the type of tax you need to pay.

For Non-Resident Withholding Tax, choose:

“Non-Residents”

🔹 Step 6
Next, you will enter:

“Part XIII – Non-Resident Withholding Tax”

You will usually see two common options:

Regular Remittance
= Current withholding tax payment

Arrears Remittance
= Late payment, penalties, or interest amounts owing

Select the option that matches your situation.

Enter your payment information:

Account Number
Enter your NRV Account Number

Period End
Enter the applicable payment month

Amount
Enter the payment amount

After confirming all information is correct, click:

“Confirm and proceed to pay”

“Pay now”

⚠️ Reminder:
CRA currently does not accept TD debit cards, and most banks only support Visa Debit or Mastercard Debit.

Review all payment details carefully, then click:

“Pay”

Your payment will then be completed.

🔹 Step 11

If entered incorrectly, CRA may not be able to properly match your payment.
